Repeat Prescriptions

For items on repeat the practice will issue your prescription in 48 hours, but it can take another 48 hours for your pharmacist to process or order your items.

For medications not on repeat your request will be reviewed by a GP first and they may need to see you before issuing. Sometimes the doctors can safely prescribe requested medications that are not on the repeat prescription, but often this is not possible. Please bear this in mind when ordering.

It is your responsibility to request your medication in sufficient time.

You can order your repeat prescriptions in the following ways:

  • In person – the note should be not handed in to the reception staff with your details and all the medication required. Or tick the items needed on the B part of your repeat prescription, ask your pharmacy if you do not have one.
  • Online prescription request service – you can register for or use Patient Access.  You can do this by requesting a ‘Patient Access registration letter’ from reception in person (this will give you your personal log in details/PIN) which you then use to register online. This practice offers the facility for patients to view online, export or print detailed coded information held in their own records. This has to be done by request, please speak to reception for further information.
  • AccuRx – click here to order medications you have on repeat.
  • By NHS App
  • Via a Pharmacy of your choice – you can arrange this service from a number of local pharmacies. The Pharamcy will make a request this on your behalf.

PLEASE NOTE: Please note we are unable to accept repeat prescription requests by telephone. Only registered housebound patients can request prescriptions over the telephone. We issue thousands of prescriptions every month, and our phone lines would be unacceptably busy if we accepted a high proportion of these requests over the telephone.

Medication Reviews

From time to time we may ask you to see an appropriate member of the team to review your medication. If you do not attend for a requested medication review it may not be safe for us to continue to prescribe certain medications. The GP can, in some cases review your medication without seeing you.
